Im pleased to announce the following changes to AuctionContact service.

Free Level
I have created a new account level which will be free for unlimited time. Currently users will be able to have 20 subscribers with this free level. Once 20 subscribers have been reached users can either upgrade to the next paid level or remain with the free level indefinitely. Current uses that have less then 20 subscribers and wish to be switched to this free level please contact me at support@auctioncontact.net in order to convert your account to the free level.

New Feature: Keywords
This feature allows you to send customized e-newsletter to your subscribers. If your subscriber is interested only in certain types of items you are selling they can specify those keywords in their profile and the newsletter they receive will contain only those items that match that keyword or keywords. If no items match their keywords we will send them a regular newsletter with your most recent 25 items. This feature is not turned on by default, if you would like to enable it please logon to your account and select Edit Profile and check Use Keywords checkbox.

RSS Feeds
I have already announced this new free service to certain number of current users, but I would like to officially announce it. RSS feeds are a great way to promote your items to your customers who do not wish to receive your e-newsletter but are still interested in learning about your new items. If you havent already started using RSS feeds please take a look at http://rss.auctioncontact.net

It’s been a while since you heard any news from us, but exciting things are happening at AuctionContact! During the past few months we have been evaluating our service and looking for way to improve it. I’m happy to announce the following new features that we are going to deploy over the next several months. We have received quite a few ideas from some of you, and the following features are incorporating some of those ideas. I want to say a Big Thank You for all of you who have sent us feedback. I would also like to encourage all of you to keep they coming.
New features:

- AuctionContact.com now available! -- We have acquired the auctioncontact.com domain. You can now find our site with the .com version too. It works the same as the .net, in fact both domains point to the same site.
- Double Opt-In Feature Scheduled for deployment: Week of October 6
This feature will change how the subscription process works. It is designed to confirm that your subscribers have actually requested to be on your mailing list. Here is how it works:
  • Your customer subscribes to your newsletter and provides an email address. (The same goes when you manually add subscribers)
  • A confirmation request email is sent to the email address provided with a confirmation link.
  • The recipient clicks on the link and is added to your subscriber list. If the recipient does not click on the link, the email address will not be added to your list and the recipient will receive no further emails from AuctionContact.

Why are we implementing Double Opt-In? We have found that our service works best when only people who want to receive the newsletter receive it. People who want to receive your newsletter will read it, visit your listings and are most likely to bid or buy. This feature will ensure that you pay only for subscribers that are most likely to read your newsletter and buy/bid on your items.
This new feature will not affect your existing subscribers. Only subscribers that subscribe after deployment of this feature will be asked to confirm. Subscribers that do not confirm their subscription will not be counted against your subscriber limit.
- We are working on making our service eBay Developer Program certified. Target date: End of October.
This will allow us to be better integrated with the eBay system, which in turn will provide more reliable service and allow for some new features. It will also allow us to use eBay Marketplace™ logo in your newsletters which would add more credibility to your newsletters.

- Insertion of gallery images in the newsletter. Target Date: Not yet established.
We are planning on adding an option to include gallery images in the newsletter for those listings that have it. This was one of the most requested feature and we are planning to implement it shortly after we complete eBay Developer Program certification. At the same time we will increase the number of characters that are allowed for your message in the newsletter.
Manual newsletter option. Target date: Not yet established.
We haven’t worked out the details of this feature yet, but here is a broad overview of how it is going to work: You would be able to choose if you want to have our system automatically generate newsletters as it is currently done, or if you want to manually enter items that you wish to include in your newsletter. Then you will be able to choose a day when the newsletter will be sent. This option might be better for some users, and we have received such requests. It will allow you to choose exactly which items you want to feature in your auctions.

Well, as always we welcome your comments. These were just brief descriptions, but please don’t hesitate to email me, I will be happy to explain them in more detail.

Thank you for your business!

Announcement: eBay Stores URL Issue

It has been brought to our attention, by one of our valued users, that URL for eBay Stores doesn’t necessarily matches the seller’s user name.

Our system used following URL to point to eBay Stores: http://www.ebaystores.com/[user_name]. For users whose store names are different than their user names the link didn’t work correctly.

To correct this issue, we have added a new field, “Store URL”, into User Profile where you can enter the correct URL of your eBay store. Please update this field with the correct URL.

Users whose stores are accessible via http://www.ebaystores.com/[user_name] URL need not enter the URL in the “Store URL” filed.

We thank our valued user for letting us know about this issue, and we apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.

Regards,
AuctionContact Team

Announcement: Two new features!

We are happy to announce the addition of two new features to the AuctionContact service.

E-Newsletter Status Notification:
Each time your E-Newsletters are sent, our system will send you a “notification” email stating that your E-Newsletter has been sent. The email will also tell you the number of subscribers that the E-Newsletter was sent to, and the date and time when the mailing of your E-Newsletter was finished. The notification email will also contain the exact copy of the E-Newsletter that was sent to your subscribers.

Replies to your E-Newsletter will go to your email address: Now, when your subscribers read your E-Newsletter, they only need to hit the “Reply” button in their email client and they will be able to contact you directly. By default, all replies to your E-Newsletter will go to the email address you used to open the account. You can change that by entering the desired email address into “Reply-To Email” field in your Profile.

We hope that those new features will allow you to get the most out of the AuctionContact service.

We would also like to thank all of you who sent us suggestions as to how we can improve our service. Just keep sending them!

Regards,
AuctionContact Team
